What's Your Fetish, Obsession or Urge?

So I have a blog/forum friend who inspired this next post.  He has a fetish that makes him, in his words "a freak" of sorts.  I honestly believe that no matter who you are, what your upbringing is/was, what your religious beliefs happen to be, what your sexual orientation is, what nationality you are, what color your skin is or what age you are...everyone has a fetish.  Some of us may have a fetish that is looked at by society as a more mild fetish, such as liking feet; meaning you love the nature of the foot, while some of us may have a fetish, such as my blog/forum friend, like being a diaper lover as an adult (ABDL*); meaning you love wearing them, soiling them and the feel of them on you

Society has taught us throughout our lives for generations, decades and centuries to be afraid of what is not of the "norm".  It's also taught us to shun those of us who have strange or odd sexual or habitual tendencies.  I think that in itself is sickening.  Who am I, you or the next person or our governments, no matter where we live, to say what is right, wrong, strange, odd, freaky or normal when it comes to our personal preferences in our personal lives?  I see it this way, if it's not hurting another person, if you aren't pushing your beliefs or practices off on someone else unwillingly, if you aren't doing something that breaks the law and of course if you aren't involving children/minors or the handicapped (meaning someone who otherwise cannot make a logical and sound-mind decision on their own) then to each their own...

For instance, I have a mild obsession/fetish (or what I consider a mild case of something that I've heard of being completely out of control-I guess it could be considered a mild case of OCD** as well) with my nails and body cleanliness.  As for my nails, I am obsessive with keeping them neat, manicured/filled, and nice looking.  My friends have always told me that they can tell if I am stressed, upset or not myself by the condition of my nails.  That goes for my fingernails and my toenails.  Then there is the body cleanliness part.  I am very ritualistic in the shower.  When I shower each morning I have a routine.  Every body part is cleaned in sequential order the same way in the same order every day.  I scrub my body hard to the point where I look like I've developed a red blotchy rash across parts of my body.  Now, I don't do it to the point that it's become physically and mentally disturbing and harmful.  I just like to be clean...nothing wrong with that.  I've been that way as far back as I can remember.

I would like to present, if you will, and explain (to the best of my knowledge) 5 different fetishes that may or may not be so widely known to the majority of the human population on our very judgemental small world.  If you find any of this disturbing then stop reading now...otherwise read on my friends.

1. This is for my "friend".  The first I will tell you about is ABDL*, or what is known as an adult diaper lover.  A more exact definition is, "Paraphilic infantilism is a paraphilia characterized by the desire to wear diapers, due to reasons other than medical necessity, and/or be treated as an infant or toddler. It is also characterized by the carrying out of these desires on a regular basis"***

Here are a couple blogs that I've found that may explain it better in their terms:

2. Meat Fetish.  I watched an episode of Real Sex on HBO once totally on those with meat fetishes.  There were extremists and those that were mostly into wearing things like bacon or steaks on their naked bodies for whatever reasons they had.  Again, a more exact definition: "A sick fetish having to do with getting sexually aroused by putting meat products of people feet or other body parts"***

3. Foot Fetish.  I think this is one of the more common ones.  Besides having a slight one myself...it is a fetish where one admires naked feet of all kinds.  Definition:  "The pure admiration or sexual attraction of bare feet. Usually pertaining to men who can become sexually aroused from the sight of any part of women's feet; including, toes, arches and soles."***

4.  Hair Fetish.  It's a fetish or arousal one gets by a specific length, style or color of another one's hair.  Definition:  "A hair fetish is having the need for the object of one's affections to have a special type, colour, style, etc; of hair in order to be found attractive. This fetish is not exclusive to guys, as many girls find guy's hair to be a major turn-on."***

5.  Latex, leather or rubber Fetish.  I think this is self explanatory.  I see this one discuss, talked about and explained on many late night shows, again such as Real Sex on HBO from time to time.  Definition:  "Having a proclivity in a sexual way- especially when wearing latex, rubber, or leather."***

There are many, many, many, many, many...you get it, more fetishes that I could not possibly name them all on one small little blog entry...but I think you get the point.  I've found a list (compliments of ChaiMedia.com) of The Top 10 Most Common Fetishes:

Top 10 Most Common Fetishes

1. Feet

2. High-heels and knee-high boots

3. Piercing

4. Silk, satin, leather or latex

5. Hands

6. Hair

7. Role playing: doctor, nurse etc.

8. Body parts like flat, tight tummy

9. Balloon

10. Finger-nails art

Anyway, my main objective in writing this blog entry (I'm not sure how good it is) was to bring to light that some or many of us have these urges, fetishes or obsessions and just because we do doesn't mean we are all freaks...or does it?  You never know, the woman/man that sits in the cubicle next to you at the office may be a closet freak and you'd never know it...  But that's for you to wonder!

I Will Sing My Song

My daily quote...I think this will be a new thing for me as I run out of topics or relativity to posting quotes each day with pictures.  I think maybe I'll choose one good one and share it on here daily.  So here it goes...

"Those who want to sing will always find a song."
~ Norwegian Proverb

It's simple but yet has such a big meaning.  It's kind of like saying, "Where there's a will, there's a way" or "when the going gets tough, the tough get going".  If you truly want something or want to make something happen you do what's necessary to make it happen.  That's my motto.

I've been told that I'm selfish, desperate or just not realistic.  Why is it when someone wants or desires something no matter what it is and they set out to get it they are labeled as impractical or are looked down upon?  What is wrong with being driven when it comes to something that will make you happy or get you ahead?

I'm not talking about stepping on toes, hurting feelings, back-stabbing or anything like that to get what you want.  However, I think society has their lines crossed here.  If you are working toward a personal goal it doesn't make you greedy or self absorbed, especially when you aren't hurting anyone or anything around you in the process.  So all you haters should back off and stop labeling those of us who are motivated enough to go out and get the things we want for ourselves.  And for those of you who do back-stab, lie and cheat to get what you want; shame on you.

For me, the things I want usually don't come easy.  I feel like I've been on a life long quest for these things.  I've found parts but not all the pieces to make me whole.  It seems I am always restless, unsettled and constantly searching.  I hate this feeling.  I have been tricked and thought I held all the pieces but in the end I realized I didn't.  *sigh*

So if wanting to be whole, looking and doing what I must to find what I'm looking for and being focused on these things makes me mean, self-absorbed and unrealistic...well, then I guess I am.  I have given and continue to give so much of myself every day to everyone around me that at the end of the day I have nothing more to give to myself.  It's a very empty feeling when I have nothing left for ME.  I'm learning just how important it is to leave something for your own self.  Many of us don't remember that.  And now that I'm starting to leave some for ME, I feel like I'm being selfish and that's not right.

I am very much the type of person who will not be content until I can find what it is that is missing and feel whole.  I can't pretend that I am content with being 3/4 myself anymore.  I won't be like 90% of this world and settle for being 3/4 of what I can be or want to be.  Is that wrong?
