Last night I did the swing shift at Sally's from 4 PM to Midnight, then, walked in the dark sinister streets to the Chacon Casa. No one but the dog Arnold and the cat was there. Later, Primo Mark came home and I met his 'ruca' Hillary. We talked a few words and then I went to bed, read a bit, then, crashed and got up around 8 AM this morning. Marcos looked like he was still crashed out. I got up, washed up and left the house for the day.
I went to the SPCA Thrift Store by 14th & E Streets, then, came over to the Gregg's place at Land Park Woods. I did a few chores, checked my Email and got ready for work at Sally's. We had a Staff Meeting on Security for Overflow that begins next week on the 21st of this November month. Craig had his scheduled screwed up so I only worked officially from 4 PM to 8 PM, but it was more like just relating to the people there.
Our dear Major Mary came back from vacation in the Bahamas where she goes every now and then with her sister. To me, the big event today was my natal birthday. Major Mary was so kind and thoughtful that she had a birthday party in my honor. We all had cake and strawberry swirl ice cream. It was great to spend my birthday time there with people who are among my real friends in life, some I have known for quite a while, attend our CASA Meetings and I am close to a few of them with joint plans for the future. It was so cool because my Blood Brother Roberto {aka Tata} was there too. He is a client right now there working on his Spiritual Growth.
I have known many many people in all my years, but I feel most comfortable with people at the Salvation Army Shelter because there is a kind of shared experience that we all share together just being in a homeless shelter. We are still human beings and many of us have had a lot and lost a lot in life with its ups and downs. To me, America's homeless are our domestic refugees.
As far as I have come, I know I have a long way to go in terms of my own Spiritual Maturity, but I believe the major inner struggles are over and I have won. Considering my years, I know I am in pretty good shape and still have a strong mind.
I am pretty hefty and a bit flabby, but I am not fat. It feels like I am getting a bit of arthritis settling into my muscles, especially my arms. My diabetes is pretty much under check and I have no severe symptoms. I need new glasses and dental work done. All-in-all, I am holding up pretty good and look good considering my age and all the trauma I have gone through in my life.
This evening, from the Downtown Plaza Mall, I called my Uncle Armando and wished him an early happy birthday. His birthday is in a couple of days and his Son, my Cousin Armando, has his tomorrow!
Of course, lest I forget, my own blood son Camilo Estaban Lopez has his birthday today and I wonder if he is thinking of me this November night. I am thinking of him and pray to see him and get to know him before I leave this plane of existence.
On my birthday I hereby recommit myself to try harder to help others in as many ways as I can. The People's Liberation Movement goes on! I will fight back against the Evil Ones of these times with my all, even if it costs me my life! I am totally committed to humane liberation!
Liberation Now!
