All-in-all it has been a good productive day, though, I never get done all I want to do. I do what little I can. I have been suffering with a terrible toothache that seems to have abated for now. I did a few chores this morning around the Gregg Household, then, took a short catnap.
Around 5 PM I went over to Annabelle's and visited with them for a bit. She gave me a few painkillers ~ Motrin and Vicodin ~ to help with any further pain because of my tooth. Over the years my teeth have gotten bad and those couple of years or so when I was strung out on crank did not help!
As a recovery principle, if I take these pain pills just for that and do not abuse them I do not consider it a slip from my recovery program. This tooth and mouth ache has been bothering me for about a week and I only sleep a few restless hours last night. So I will take one of each when I go to bed later.
Before, I tried prayer and meditation, but the pain persists, though, it has subsided a lot. Praise God!
On CNN Cable today we are being bombarded about politics because of Elections Day tomorrow. I have an absentee ballot that I will turn it at my polling place, In fact, I can see my polling place from where I sit looking out the window.
Annabelle has a neighbor0-friend named Gory who is a friend of Son Ricky. He seems to be a nice chap and his 30-something. He was in Iraq and in a tank that flipped over twice and suffers from seizures at time. Minus, he has not received the kind of Veteran's Benefits he deserves having been in Iraq and leaving the service with a Honorable Discharge. I told him to get his paperwork together, that I will review it and try to help in what little way I can.
Plus, I talked to Brother Mike earlier. He is a client at Sally's with some good program ideas related to CASA recovery and other matters. Hopefully we will be able to chat and have some cafe at the Expresso Coffee shop by the Downtown Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.
My 'baby brother' Bobby is going well, staying straight and he is suppose to have gone to an N.A. Meeting tonight. I do Bible Study this Thursday. Plus, I need to try to get someone to chair the A.A. Meeting this Friday.
It is always hard working on helping people get into recovery who are residents at a homeless shelter and usually in very early recovery if they are into recovery at all. Yet, sometimes I receive some real rewards that make it all worthwhile. Nevertheless, it is a struggle.
I remember when I was first in the shelter system back around 1977 and CASA Meetings and others were real blessings.
We have to keep thinking, keep trying, keep moving and keep progressing. Never give up! Never lose faith! Never stop fighting!
