Update: I thought I should mention that I took the html code from here, Shabby Blogs, as several others that I tried didn't work very well. This code seemed to do the trick. Take a look at this blog! It's pretty awesome!
Recently I've noticed in making new friends on blogger, that many of my fellow bloggers had "Blog Buttons" that anyone visiting their blog could grab, copy and paste into the design of their own blogs to show off and link it to their friend's page. It's actually a great idea, especially if you find that a blog is interesting or great in any other way so that you can share it with others.
I've researched how to make these buttons and it took me something like 3 weeks to figure out how to make a simple button (thanks to Amy). Some of the instructions, I found, were not very easy to follow and in trying to make one, I failed epically. LOL
I have noticed on several of the blogs that I frequent, that some have a picture and a caption above it saying to grab their buttons BUT it doesn't contain the little text box below it to easily copy and paste the HTML jargon in their own blog designer
(Click the link below to continue reading this post.)
Anyway, I've put together a little set of "simple" instructions on how to make a BLOG BUTTON. Here they are. If you have any further questions feel free to e-mail me at k.marie37bg@gmail.com:
How To Make a Blog Button
or
How To Whore Yourself Out on Your Own Blog (ha-ha)
- First of all you will want to chose an image that either you think represents you, your blog or that just excites you in some way (obviously nothing x-rated as you WANT your followers to show off your blog button.)
- Once you've found the image that you would like to use for your button, you will need to go to photo editing site, such as Photobucket and crop and minimize your picture to a small square of about 200 pixels both in width and height (that is what I did anyway) so it fits snugly on a blog layout.
- Some other ideas that you may want to add to your blog button picture:
- Adding the title of your blog
- Adding a catchy phrase you may use
- Anything else that may represent you or your blog
- Once your done all your modifications to your blog button picture, log into your Blogger account and in the "Design" tab of your blogs dashboard, click on "Add a Gadget" and select the HTML/JavaScript gadget and click add.
- You can give it a title like I did, such as "Grab My Butt-on" or you can leave it blank. Then copy and paste the following code in the text area:
<img src="http://YOURBUTTONLOCATION.jpg" /> <br /> <textarea style="text-align:center" rows="4" cols="22"><a border="0" href="http://YOURBLOGADDRESS.com" target="_blank"><img src=http://YOURBUTTONLOCATION.jpg></a></textarea>
- In Photobucket, or the photo hosting site you are using, copy the "Direct link" and past it in both places where it says "YOUR BUTTON LOCATION HERE".
- Now copy your blogs address, for example http://timoslt.blogspot.com, into the "YOUR BLOG ADDRESS HERE". Click Save and you are done.
Once you've made your blog button move it around to where you want it to be displayed on your blogs page and check it out!
I hope this helped! If you decided to use this and make a blog button please let me know and I will PROUDLY show off your blogs BUTTON!
Happy Friday!!!
P.S. ~ And while you're at it, grab my Buttons too!
