1-01-2009 @2:47 PM To: Councilmember Tretheway for District 1~
My name is Peter S. Lopez. I was born and raised in the City of Sacramento.
I am interested in meeting with you at a good time for both of us to discuss the drug crime in this area and other issues of interest since you the City Councilman for District 1.
I am a resident at the Globe Mills Senior Housing Building on the corner of 12th and C Streets and reside on the top floor. From my window I can see a small homeless camp across the street where it is known by local people to be a nest for local crack dealers and users. This whole area is infested and infected with 'crackheads' who seem to carry on in the area night and day without any real police presence or interaction that would at least curtail the drug trafficking. I could send a video just from what I see up here! For now I am just attaching a few pictures.

I know this kind of activity on a regular constant basis would not be allowed in other areas of the city, such as North Natomas, but it goes on constantly around here day and night. I would like to meet with you soon to discuss this and other problems in the area.
It would be ideal to start out this new year with a fresh look at the range of problems that are taking place in the Alkali Area. The local police and others know that the Alkali Light Rail Station on 12th Street is a jumping off point for small-time drug dealers who come and go around here hopping off and on the Light Rail.
I am employed by the Salvation Army 'Center of Hope' as a Counselor and Caseworker so I work nearby on 1200 North B Street and know what I speak of here. Plus, I am the Field Coordinator for CASA (Christians Against Substance Addiction) and have worked with homeless addicts seeking recovery from drug addiction for a long time.
